Licensed early childhood special educator supports growth of the whole child through development in the areas of behavior, fine and gross motor skills, cognitive skills, and social skills. Examples of strategies or support in each of these areas includes:

 

• Behavior-support attention and transitions through visuals and parent/teacher coaching

• Fine motor skills-strategies to support development of pencil grasp

• Cognitive skills-learning academic skills and problem solving through books and play

• Social skills-increase peer interaction through structured games and unstructured play

• Self-help skills-feeding and toileting through visuals, schedules, and parent/teacher coaching
